2.2.14 Spinner Safety
2.2.14.1 Moving Parts Safety
While the interlocks are over-ridden, a high-speed spinner mirror
presents a danger for the engineer.
NOTE: Note that even when rotating at an idle speed the spinner
can appear in a halt state.
WARNING: The spinner rotates at very high speeds and can cause seri-
ous injury if accidentally touched. Make sure the spinner has stopped
rotating before accessing a drum with the interlocks defeated.
2.2.14.2 Acoustic Noise Safety
While the spinner is running and the covers on the engine are
removed, there is an acoustic hazard of over
65 dB
noise.
2.3 Safety Interlock System
The platesetter system includes a
Category 3
safety control facility for
protecting the operator and engineer from mechanical, laser and
electrical hazards. A description of the interlock system is in the
Alinte4page Service Guide
.
