INSTALLATION
Replacing the batteries
Europa GSM is factory-equipped with 2 packs of 7.2 V NiMH rechargeable
batteries.
To replace the batteries:
¾
Pick up the handset of the system administrator extension (extension
41) and access programming.
¾
Dial the code 204 252 to disable the batteries.
¾
Wait for confirmation tone and hang up.
¾
Disconnect the mains power supply cable within 60 seconds.
¾
Loosen the right lateral part of the lid and rotate it downwards.
¾
Open the other side of the lid by acting on the screw, and rotate the lid
downwards.
¾
Disconnect the batteries from the connectors.
¾
Remove the two packs of exhausted batteries pulling them out from the
plastic cable tie.
¾
Place the new packs of batteries (NiMH, 7.2V) inserting them in the
plastic cable tie.
¾
Connect the batteries to the connectors (J17 – J26).
¾
Place the main part of the lid back on and tighten the screw.
¾
Place the lateral part of the lid back on.
¾
Connect Europa GSM to the mains power supply.
Use of external batteries
As for safety applications, a +12 Vdc external power supply source can be used
as backup batteries.
(Typical absorption: 100 mA / Maximum absorption: 500 mA).
¾
Disconnect the Europa GSM serial batteries from the connectors.
¾
Connect the external power supply source to the +12 and -12 terminals
located in the terminal board paying attention to the polarity.
Note: if a +12 Vdc external power supply source is present, in order
to switch off Europa GSM completely, this source must be
disconnected. The programming code disabling the serial
batteries has no effect.
Note: in the absence of an electric mains power supply, if a +12 Vdc
external power supply is present, Europa GSM will operate in
emergency mode.
