SelecType
This section describes how to use the SelecType mode to make
the printer’s default settings.
SelecType overview
When you press the
SelecType
button, you enter the
SelecType mode, where you can make the default settings for
most of the printer’s functions, such as character tables,
margins, printer mode, serial communication, and other
settings.
In many cases, you do not need to change the SelecType
settings because they are set to the factory (default) settings,
which meet the needs of most users.
Note:
You can print out a list of the current default settings by holding
down the
SelecType
button while you turn on the printer. The list
is printed in the language selected in SelecType.
Your software program sends printer commands that usually
override the SelecType settings. If you do not get the results
you expect, check your software settings first.
SelecType has two levels: Level 1 contains printing functions,
such as character table, page length, and margins; Level 2
contains printer configuration functions that you change less
frequently, such as auto tear-off, interface selection, and serial
communication settings.
