Press F3 (ACCESS CARTRIDGES) to return the carriage to the service
station.
Installing the cutter pen
The cutting head has its own cutter. It does not need to be installed if you
are only printing. In addition to the adjustments described below, addi-
tional cutter controls can be set at the control panel. See Chapter 5 for
details.
Choosing a cutter pen
Three types of cutting blades are offered: steel, sapphire and ceramic. Details are
included in Chapter 5.
For general cutting, use the steel tip. For longer blade life, use the ceramic blade.
For media such as masking film, and for cutting detailed shapes and characters,
use the sapphire blade.
Set the blade depth so that it cuts through the media, but not the substrate.
Instructions are included in Chapter 5.
Blades eventually lose sharpness. Be sure to replace the blade when necessary.

To install the cutter pen

To attach a cutter pen, first switch the printer to Cutting mode. If the printer
is not in Cutting mode, switch the printer to PAUSE status and then select
Cutting mode. When Cutting mode is entered, the coupling with the ink
cartridge carriage is disconnected and the cutter pen carriage waits in
standby.
