APPENDICES
Downloading new firmware
Firmware contains all of NovaCut's programmed instructions. You can download
the latest firmware revision from ENCAD's BBS or web site (see details at the
end of Appendix I).

To download firmware
1 Connect a parallel cable from the computer to the NovaCut.

2 Obtain the ENCAD DOS utility disk (or a disk containing the files you
downloaded from ENCAD) and insert it into your computer's disk drive.
3 Type DOWNLOAD at the a:\ (or b:\) prompt and press Enter.
The utility will execute. Respond to the prompts when requested.
4 Simultaneously hold down the CUTTING CONDITION< NEXT DISPLAY<
and TEST keys and turn power on. The display indicates READY followed
by a numeric code.

5 Choose parallel download.
6 Verify the correct firmware ROM versions and press Enter.
7 Press Enter at the PC to start the download. It will take approximately 3
minutes, depending on the speed of your computer.
8 Turn the NovaCut off, then on.
9 Verify proper initialization. NovaCut should display either of these mes-
sages:
