•
The carrier tag is the number associated with a carrier frequency generated by a
particular Electroline Control Unit (single FSK carrier). The tag is preset in the
factory to 0, but the cable operator can change it.
•
The redundancy failure notification is an optional feature in a redundancy system that
can be activated so that the host computer will be warned if a master-backup switch
occurs.
3.5 Starting a setup session
In order to make the Control Unit easier to install and use, Electroline sets up the unit in
advance, according to the customer’s specifications. You can, however, modify some of the
setup parameters.
Important:
If you are connecting to the Control Unit for the purpose of changing its settings (
setup
),
synchronizing a master and backup unit (
sync
) or changing the system password
(
setpw
), the following restrictions apply:
•
You must connect the host computer to the Control Unit’s COM 3 port.
•
The host computer’s own COM port must be set up with the parameters in Table 3-2.
Because the COM 3 port is used to set up the Control Unit, its parameters are programmed in
the factory and cannot be modified. Make sure that your HyperTerminal connection or other
communication program uses the same settings on the computer’s COM port when
connecting to COM 3.
Table 3-2: Mandatory parameters on COM 3
Parameters Values
