6.1 Checking the power and battery
•
If none of the Control Unit’s LEDs light up when you turn on the unit, there may be a
powering problem.
To check the Control Unit’s powering:
1. First make sure that the power cord is plugged into the Control Unit and a power
source. Make sure that the Control Unit’s power switch is on.
2. If there is still no power, the Control Unit’s fuse may be blown. Replace the burnt
fuse with the spare fuse (see Chapter 5).
3. If the problem persists, contact Electroline’s technical support department.
•
If the Control Unit’s
BATTERY
LED is lit, the battery is low, discharged, or improperly
installed. Use a replacement battery of the same type (CR2430 3V lithium 200mAh or
CR2450 3V lithium 560mAh).
To troubleshoot problems with the Control Unit’s battery:
1. Make a backup copy of the content of the subscriber status data in the Control Unit’s
memory by downloading (see Chapter 5 for download procedure), then power off and
unplug the unit.
2. Make sure the battery is properly installed. The positive terminal side should be
facing up, so you see the “+” symbol. If necessary, turn the battery over and power on
the Control Unit.
3. If
the
BATTERY
LED is still lit, replace the discharged battery with a new battery. For
complete battery replacement instructions, see Chapter 5. Once the Control Unit is
back on, the battery LED should be off.
4. Upload the backup copy of the subscriber status data to the Control Unit (see
Chapter 5 for upload procedure).
5. If
the
BATTERY
LED is still lit, contact Electroline’s technical support department.
6.2 Checking the FSK signal
The simplest way to make sure that the Control Unit’s modulator, demodulator and internal
sequencer are working properly is to observe the Control Unit’s
FSK
LED. This LED is
controlled by the RF watchdog circuitry, which checks for the FSK signal. When the
FSK
LED on the Control Unit’s front panel is lit, the Control Unit’s internal RF watchdog is
receiving a valid signal. However, the RF watchdog must be activated and the Control Unit
must be cabled properly or else the
FSK
LED will not be lit even if there is a valid FSK
signal. If the RF watchdog is disabled, you can connect a signal measuring device to the
Control Unit’s
RF OUT
port to make sure the FSK carrier is present and that the amplitude is
at least 47 dBmV (dual FSK) or 49 dBmV (single FSK).
