5: Serial Communication Wiring

1. From the Device Profile menu, click 

General Settings>Communications

> and 

then click on one of the listed ports.  

2. You will see the Device Profile Communications Settings screen. In the Network 

Settings section, enter data provided by your systems manager:

          IP Address:         10.0.0.1            (Example)

          Subnet Mask:      255.255.255.0  (Example)

          Default Gateway: 0.0.0.0             (Example)

          Computer Name: NETWORK         (Example)

After the Network parameters are set, CommunicatorPQA® software connects to the 
meter via the Network using a Device Address of “1” and the assigned IP Address. 
Follow these steps:

1. Double-click on the CommunicatorPQA® icon to open the software.

2. Click the 

Connect 

icon in the icon tool bar. 

3. You will see the Connect screen. Click the 

Network

 button at the top of the screen.  

The screen will change to one requesting the following information:

          Device Address:   1

           Host:                  IP Address (per your network administrator).

                                     Example: 10.0.0.1

           Network Port:      502

           Protocol:             Modbus TCP

    NOTE: 

See Section 5.7 for the factory settings.

4. Click the 

Connect

 button at the bottom of the screen. CommunicatorPQA® soft-

ware connects to the meter via the Network.
