Introduction to Use of the PR-1000HD —
Creating and Opening Projects
The PR-1000HD manages materials in what are called “projects.”
■
What is a Project?
On the PR-1000HD, the “project” is the most basic unit of management. Materials you import are
registered in the project, and can be played back in real time by Presenter. Settings for realtime
playback as well as the edits you make are also saved within the project.
■
The Relationship Between Materials, Clips, and
Palettes
Each project contains the materials used in the project, palettes for arranging the sequence of the
materials, and clips above the palettes to be played back in real time. Materials within a project are
displayed by referencing the video data that is in the data area, and by referencing materials from the
library. As shown in the illustration below, an item of data can be used by more than one project, so
you can also reference and use data used by another project.

You can use the Capture function to obtain materials from an external source such as a video deck.
Materials you create on a computer can be written to tape or burned to CD-R or DVD-R as MPEG-2 TS
files (compliant with the HDV specification) and imported. Using the network function, you can also
copy materials to the PR-1000HD from computers. You can import (copy) materials from other
projects.
A single project contains twenty palettes. You can arrange up to 32 materials in one palette using the
imported materials within a project.
The materials arranged in a palette are called clips. You can play back video images in real time by
selecting the clips. You can also make settings for individual clips that determine the segment to play
back (In point and End point) as well as loop playback, mode, and other settings.
Creating and Opening Projects
On the PR-1000HD, it may be
that material used in a project
is also used by another project.
For this reason, the following
phenomena will occur.
• Even if you delete a project,
the free space on the disk
will not increase by an
amount equivalent to the
size of the project that was
deleted.
• Even if you delete a project,
material that is also used by
another project will not be
deleted.
