Removing and Replacing Field Replaceable Units

3.5 Removing a TZ30 Tape Drive

In the VAX 4000 Models 100, 100A, 105A, the TZ30 tape drive is always

mounted in the right-hand position of the lower drive-mounting shelf, when

viewed from the front. To remove a TZ30 tape drive from the BA42B Enclosure,

follow these steps:
1. Remove the enclosure cover (refer to Section 3.1).
2. Remove the upper drive-mounting shelf (refer to Section 3.3).

Note

• You can disconnect the cables from the drive more easily after

you remove the drive from the drive-mounting shelf.

• When disconnecting the cables, you must note which cables

connect to which drives. On the SCSI cable, note the number

on the connector pull-tab.

3. Loosen the captive screw that secures the mounting bracket to the

drive-mounting shelf (refer to Figure 3–13).
