Troubleshooting a Damaged System
Problem

System was dropped or damaged.
Action
CAUTION:
Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You
should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your
product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and
support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the
product.

Open the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 67.

Ensure that the following components are properly installed:
•
Expansion cards
•
Power supplies
•
Fans
•
Processors and heat sinks
•
Memory modules
•
Drive-carrier connections to the backplane board

Ensure that all cables are properly connected.

Close the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 67.

Run the system board tests in the system diagnostics. See "Using Dell
PowerEdge Diagnostics" on page 169.
