To confirm the list of databases that require backup, from the
Object Explorer
panel, expand
Databases
>
System Databases
.
The databases that require backup are in the
System Databases
(
master
,
model
,
msdb
) and
the
vcenter
and
vum
databases appear after the
Database Snapshots
folder.
Depending on the naming standard (client or Dell EMC), names should appear as
<
x
>
mgmtvcenter
and <x>
mgmtvum
, where <
x
> is a unique identifier. The
tempdb
database should be excluded from the backup process creation tasks.

Navigate to and expand
SQL Server Agent
>
Jobs
.

To create a backup job, right-click
Jobs
and select
New Job.

Type a value in the
Name
field to correspond with the backup to be performed. For example,
Daily Full backup - master
.

In the
Owner
field, remove the default log on and type
sa
.

Change the
Category
field to
Database Maintenance
.

Type a description in the
Description
field.

Verify
Enabled
is checked.

To create a new job step entry, under
Select a page

Procedure
