CHAPTER 4
WEB OPERATION & CONFIGURATION
SSM Overwrite:
A selectable clock source Quality Level (QL) to overwrite any QL received in a SSM. If QL is not
Received in a SSM (SSM is not enabled on this port), the SSM Overwrite QL is used as if received. The SSM Overwrite
can be set to QL_NONE, indicating that the clock source is without any known quality (Lowest compared to clock
source with known quality)
Clock Selection Mode and State
Mode:
Select the appropriate clock selection mode.
Freerun:
Clock Selector is forced to Free Run State.
Forced holdover:
Clock Selector is forced to Hold Over State.
Forced Reference Lock:
Clock selector will select the clock source stated in Source. If this manually selected clock
source is failing, the clock selector will go into holdover state.
Automatic:
Clock Selection of the best clock source is constantly done.
Source:
Select he source clock instance number.
SSM Hold Over:
This is the transmitted SSM QL value when clock selector is in Hold Over State.
SSM Free Run:
This is the transmitted SSM QL value when clock selector is in Free Run State.
Clock Source:
The clock source locked to when clock selector is in locked state.
LOL:
Clock selector has raised the Los Of Lock alarm.
DHOLD:
Clock selector has not yet calculated the holdover frequency offset to local oscillator. This becomes active for
about 10 s. when a new clock source is selected
SyncE Port
SSM Enable:
Enable SSM (Synchronization Status Message) on this port.
4.3.14 EPS
EPS (Ethernet Linear Protection Switching) operation, defined in ITU/T G.8031, is implemented in this device at the
port level. EPS can perform 1+1 and 1:1 switching protection architecture where the former architecture operates
with either unidirectional or bidirectional switching; while the latter one operates with unidirectional switching. It can
also be configured to revertive mode allowing the traffic goes back to working transport entity when the original fault
is repaired and WTR (wait to restore) timer has expired. The other timer supported is Hold-Off timer which configures
the delay time of protection switching until an upstream device or the lower layer is ready for transmission.
In EPS configuration page, EPS instances are created to associate with MEPs on the working and protection entities
that are responsible for sending and receiving APS protocol frames. APS frames can be either unicast or multicast
depending on the types of traffic in the actual networking environment.
