Wrap the cuff in the following way:
Wrap the cuff snugly with room between the
cuff and the arm for two fingers. If the cuff is
wrapped too loose, it cannot be inflated properly
and there may be errors in measured values.
It is best to wrap a bare arm; clothing may
cause errors in measured values.
The end of the cuff should fall inside the range
marked clearly on the inside of the cuff. If it
doesn’t, a different size cuff should be used.
(See Figure 2.3)
The artery mark on the center of the cuff
bladder should be placed over the brachial
artery, and make sure not to twist, kink, or
otherwise occlude the hose.
Keep the cuffed part of the arm at the same
level as the heart (See Figure 2.4)
If it is above the level of the heart, the blood
pressure measurement may be lower than
actual. If it is below the heart level, the blood
pressure may be higher than actual (due to the
physical weight of the blood).
Do not compress the cuff or the rubber cuff
hose.
The patient should remain still and quiet during
the blood pressure measurement.

Note:
Compression of the cuff or the cuff
hose may cause measurement error.
