Chapter 15
15-31
At time of FAX transmission, this machine hung up with the message "Done" after it scanned an original. Although this symptom was temporarily solved by
turning the main power switch OFF and then ON, it occurred again. Therefore, MN-CON clear was executed for solution. In this field case, there was no
problem with copy/print jobs.
Field Remedy
When this symptom occurs again after tuning the main power switch OFF and then ON, go through the procedure below to execute MN-CON clear.
1. In service mode > COPIER > Function > MISC-P > P-PRINT, print out all the service settings (as your backup).
2. In service mode > COPIER > Function > CLEAR > MN-CON, press [OK] to clear all the data on SRAM.
Note: Performing this item initializes all the data on the SRAM board: in other wards, file management information for the hard disk is initialized, and
therefore image data on the hard disk can no longer be read. Before performing this item, explain to the user that all images in In-Boxes will be lost, and
receive permission to perform.

[ Case in the field ]
Description
Since SW0 on the cassette size detection PCB of this machine was faulty, the size of paper loaded on a cassette was indicated as being LTRR on the LCD
although the cassette dial was set to LTR.
Cause
Since the actuator of SW0 was broken, the switch failed to be ON, causing the false detection of paper size. In addition to the case described in Description
above, "LGL" is displayed on the LDC by setting the cassette dial to "11x17" in case the switch in question stays OFF.

[A]: Switches used to detect the size of paper inside the cassette (SW0 to SW3)
[B]: Switch used to change the paper configuration inside the cassette between AB and INCH.
Field Remedy
1. Set the cassette dial on the cassette causing the symptom to a different setting, and then check to see if a false detection occurs.
2. If a false detection occurs, check the actuator of the switch on the cassette size detection PCB for breakage or malfunction.
3. If the actuator is broken or causes a malfunction, replace the cassette size detection PCB with a new one.

Description
Since the progress bar stopped at a point of one-half the way and this machine hung up upon power-on, the HDD (hard disk) was replaced with a new one
for solution.
Cause
Since the HDD was faulty, this machine failed to load the boot data, causing the symptom.
Field Remedy
1. In service mode > COPIER > Function > SYSTEM > CHK-TYPE, enter '0' using the numeric key, and then press [OK].
2. In service mode > COPIER > Function > SYSTEM > HD-CHECK, press [OK] to start the HD check (time required: several min to several tens of min.).
3. After the HD check is completed, turn the main power switch OFF and then ON.
4. If the symptom still occurs, using SST, format the HD again and re-install system software.
5. If the symptom still occurs, replace the HDD, format the new HD, and then re-install system software.

Description
When saddle-stitching 7 sheets of 12x18 size paper, the paper folding position did not align with the paper stapling position. In this inspection case, neither
the position displacement of printed image nor the same symptom with such size papers as 11x17, LGL, and LTR-R could be seen.
Cause
For 12x18-size paper, there was a fault in controlling the position of the paper positioning plate.
