6. Configuring the interfaces
6.1
RS232 interface
The RS232 interface provided with the system is a 9-pin D-type male RS232 serial port
and can be used to interface a VT100 terminal or an external standard IBM
TM
Personal
Computer running a terminal emulator program (
Remote operation via terminal using the
RS232 interface
, see § 7.2.1). This interface can be also used to connect the system to
an external standard IBM
TM
Personal Computer running a custom-developed program
(
Remote operation via host computer using the RS232 interface
).
The default settings of the RS232 interface are as listed in Table 6.1, while the RS232
pin assignment is given in Fig. 6.1.
The menu to modify the RS232 interface settings can be accessed from the
