7.2.2.4 H.S. CAENET multicrate operation sequence
In order to operate in multicrate operation, follow these steps:
1. set a different crate number (from 0 to 99) for each system belonging to the
chain;
2. if the chain is controlled from a SY527 or a SY127 system connected to an
external terminal, follow the procedure explained in the relevant manuals for
multicrate operation;
3. if the chain is controlled from a SY2527 in standalone operation or in terminal
operation, enter the
Main
menu
à
Connect
command and then type the crate
number of the system of the chain you want to connect to;
4. at this point the screen of the relevant system (i.e. the system with the crate
number you have typed) will be displayed directly on the screen of the system
acting as controller (MASTER) allowing for the remote control of the other
system.
7.2.3
Using the TCP/IP protocol via Ethernet (Telnet Client)
The Ethernet interface can be used to connect one SY2527 system to a standard PC
running a terminal emulator program (Telnet Client).
All installation requirements and instructions for the hardware set-up, including cable
specifications and TCP/IP default settings, are given in the
Hardware Installation Guide
(refer to the
Hardware Installation and Set-up
Section). Refer also to § 6.2, p.37 of this
guide for TCP/IP software configuration.
All the features of the
User Interface Software
are unchanged with respect to the
Standalone Operation, except for the
Welcome Screen
which is as shown in Fig. 7.23.
Please refer to the Standalone Operation section for details on the menus available and
the operating instructions.
To operate via TCP/IP protocol, follow this procedure (the example refers to Telnet
Client in Win'95; Telnet Clients are available in almost all operating systems):
1. Check if the system is connected via the Ethernet interface and if the TCP/IP
protocol is configured correctly;
2. Run Telnet Client software;
3. Type the
Host name
of the system you want connect to;
4. Type the
Port: 1527
;
5. Type the
Terminal type: VT100
;
6. Select
Connect
and press ENTER.
At this point you are connected to the SY2527 system via Telnet protocol.
