Picture Range
Try and keep the "targets" within range, usually within 30
ft. The BuckEye Cam will detect out past 60 ft with the
sensitivity turned up. However, keep in mind that the
maximum infrared emitter range is approximately 30 ft.
Keep your camera mounted about chest high of the
TARGET and parallel to the ground for maximum flash.
Flash Range
Flash has a range of out to 30 feet. To maximize flash
range, keep the camera mounted parallel to the ground
to eliminate as much ground splash as possible.
(Not
mounted high and angled down)
Clear brush, weeds, etc from the target area as well and in
front of the camera to reduce “flash wash”
Transmission Range
Since the wireless range is largely dependent upon LOS
(line of site) try to avoid having any large land masses
(hills, etc.) between the camera and the base unit. Usually
hills, buildings, and solid structures affect the transmis-
sion more than foliage does but keep all these factors in
mind when selecting a camera site.
The radios we use to transmit the pictures are rated at 20
miles.
BUT with our actual field testing, we could not
achieve anywhere near that distance.
We could however
acheive 1 1/2 miles repeatedly using the standard anten-
nas in an open area and out to 5+ miles by using high
gain directional antennas mounted at a much higher
elevation.
Does this mean you will be able to get the same distance?
That depends on several things. Basically, Communica-
tion Distance is determined by four factors:
• Output Power
• Receive Sensitivity
• Antenna Systems
• Environment
Depending on your environment, you may be able to
achieve results similar to ours, some case you could even
go further distances. Then again, you may need to use the
