8.3.2.3 Scanner diagnostics page
The Scanner line includes the prominent positions of the scanner on its scan travel.
• Front: Position of the front light switch. This position is by definition always 0.
• Peak: Peak position relative to the front position in half laser periods.
• Center: Position half between front and back
• Back: A fixed position at 4,000,000 half laser periods
Laser A Ampl. [mV] and Laser B Ampl. [mV]: All laser amplitude values should be
>1800 mV and <18000 mV. If they are <1800 mV, the laser signal needs to be aligned. If
the values are >18000 mV, the laser beam needs to be attenuated.
Laser A Offs. [mV] and Laser B Offs. [mV]: Values smaller than -8500 mV indicate that
no laser light reaches the interferometer block. Cause: The laser is switched off or the
laser beam is out of alignment. A great difference between the
Life max. value and the
Life min. value (>1000 mV) indicates that the laser beam is not properly aligned
(chapter 6.2).

As a rough rule of thumb, the scanner block temperature is a few °C above the ambient
temperature when thermally equilibrating the system. The ambient temperature range
for an operating spectrometer is specified between 18°C and 35°C. Consequently, a
scanner block temperature above 40°C indicates that the spectrometer is not operated
within the specified temperature range. There is no humidity sensor inside the spectrom-
eter.
