Removing and Replacing the Router
This section provides the following information and procedures:
• Conditions for replacing a router module
• Removing a router module
• Installing the replacement router module
Conditions for Replacing a Router
The following hardware conditions indicate the need to replace a router module:
• The annunciator on the front panel remains off, which indicates that a
hardware reset is active or that the module is not rec5 volt power.
• The annunciator remains amber, which indicates that the module has failed to
boot.
For information about using the LEDs to troubleshoot the router module, refer to
Appendix B, “LEDs.”
If the conditions described do not exist, but you suspect the router is failing, run
the diagnostics available through the Technician Interface. Refer to Using
Technician Interface Software (router software) or Troubleshooting and Testing
(BayStream software) for information about how to initialize and use the
diagnostics.
For information about troubleshooting other modules in a Model 5000 chassis,
refer to the related user’s guides.
Removing the Router
To remove a router module from the chassis, follow these steps:
1.
Use the flat-tip screwdriver to loosen the two captive retaining screws
that secure the module to the chassis.
These screws are spring-loaded to pop outward when they are unscrewed
from the chassis. The screws are held in place on the router module front
panel by locking washers.
