Parameter Description
poe_module_image
<image name> The name of the Power over Ethernet module image
to be downloaded from the TFTP server. This option
is available only for 4500 Series switches that
support Power Over Ethernet.
no-reset This parameter forces the switch to not reset after
the software download is complete.
usb In the Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 4500 Series
switch, this parameter specifies that the software
download is performed using a USB Mass Storage
Device and the front panel USB port.
The image, image-if-newer, diag , and poe_module_image
parameters are mutually exclusive; you can execute only one at a time.
The address <ip> and usb parameters are mutually exclusive; you can execute
only one at a time.

The software download occurs automatically without user intervention. This process deletes
the contents of the flash memory and replaces it with the desired software image. Do not
interrupt the download. Depending on network conditions, this process can take up to 10
minutes.
When the download is complete, the switch automatically resets unless you used the
no-
reset
parameter. The software image initiates a self-test and returns a message when the
process is complete. See the following graphic for an example of this message.

During the download, the switch is not operational.
