– Check to ensure that the drive shaft is positively engaged in
the oil pump. Try to turn the oil pump gears by reaching into
the opening in the intake pipe -arrow- of oil pump.
• You should not be able to turn the gears.
Remaining installation steps are carried out in reverse sequence;
note the following:
– Install sump (bottom section)

Removing
• Engine separated from gearbox
, engine attached
to scissor-type assembly platform - VAS 6131 A- or secured
to engine and gearbox support
– Remove drive shaft -arrow- for coolant pump from the oil
pump.
– Remove sump (bottom section)
