7. Remove the Steering Brake Disc.
8. Perform the servicing procedure,
Brake Disc Inspection .
Installing The Steering Brake Disc (Frontier Models - Manual Idler Chain Adjust).
1. Before installing the Steering Brake Disc, inspect the splines of the output shaft for any
damage.
2. Apply anti-seize compound to the out
put shaft spline.
3. Align the splines of the brake disc with those of the output shaft and slide the brake
disc on to seat up against the shoulder of the shaft.
IMPORTANT
The brake disc should slide on by hand. Do NOT force or hammer to install.
4.
Using a 9/16" socket, tighten the HHCS 3/8-24x1.25 Gr5 Zn securing the Steering Brake
Disc with lockwasher and flat washer.
5. Torque to 30 FT.LBS (40.7Nm)
6. Slide the idler shaft sprocket back into position and seat the retaining ring back to the
original groove.
