In following chapters common functionalities of protection functions are described. If some protection

function deviates from this basic structure the difference is described in the corresponding chapter of

the manual.

Pick-up characteristics

Pick-up of the function is controlled by Xset setting parameter, which de nes the maximum or minimum

allowed measured magnitude in per unit, absolute or percentage value before function takes action.

The function constantly calculates the ratio between the user set pick-up parameter and measured

magnitude (Im).  Reset ratio of 97 % is inbuilt in the function and is always related to the Xset value.  If

function pick-up characteristics vary from this description, it is de ned in the function part of the

manual.

The pick-up activation of the function is not directly equal to start-signal generation of the function.

Start signal is allowed if blocking condition is not active.
