3.3.6
Special Infusion Modes
To access the special infusion modes, press SELECT key after loading the infusion set. By
pressing the DATA keys
scroll to the point „
Special Modes
“ and press SELECT to confirm.
To choose between special infusion modes use the DATA keys. The following special
infusion modes are available:
Ramping (Rate)
– The pump increases the rate from KVO to a maximum rate. Then
the pump will run on this rate until after a certain time the pump will decrease the rate
to KVO again. Input parameters are rising time, maximum rate, falling time.
Ramping (TOV)
– The pump increases the rate from KVO to a maximum rate. Then
the pump will run on this rate until after a certain time the pump will decrease the rate
to KVO again. Input parameters are VTBI, infusion time (TTBI), rising time, falling
time
Parenteral Sequence
– 5 sequences can be programmed.
Rate / Time
– Input Parameters are the rate and the infusion time. The pump
calculates the infused volume.
Volume / Time
– A certain Volume can be infused in a certain time and the pump
calculates the rate of the infusion.
Connection up/down
– With this function a second pump can be automatically
started after the first pump has finished its infusion. The infusion parameters of the
two pumps can be independently selected.. The second pump can be placed either
above or below the first pump.
Synchronisation up/down
– With this function a second pump can be automatically
started after the first pump has finished its infusion. During the synchronisation
process all infusion parameters will be transferred from the first to the second pump
together with a starting signal for the second pump when the first pump has finished
its infusion.
3.3.7
PCA / EPCA Mode
The PCA / EPCA mode gives the patient the possibility to trigger a bolus by means of a
patient button. This mode is developed for pain relief applications ((E)PCA stands for
(Epidural) Patient controlled Analgesia).
An overview about successful and not successful patient boluses is displayed in the LCD.
NOTE:
The number of configuration steps in the mode PCA / EPCA is configurable. Contact
your arcomed distributor for an adjustment according to your requirements.

Setting up the Pump in PCA Mode
To access the PCA mode, press SELECT key after loading the IV set. By pressing the DATA
keys
scroll to the point „
PCA / EPCA
“ and press the SELECT key to confirm.
By pressing the DATA keys, the drug can be chosen (see also previous drugs): To confirm
the drug, press SELECT.
Depending on the chosen drug, different infusion parameters have to be entered (e.g.
Morphine PCA (all)):
