7.3 Accuracy Verification
Since the PTE is a Working Standard (Portable Reference), it offers a possibility to verify its accuracy
by another reference (e.g. more precise one). For such a scenario, the PTE is equipped with BNC
connector, which generates pulses according to measured energy. AUX connector can be also
switched into such mode. This provides more options regarding connection capabilities to external
reference.
7.3.1 How to carry out the Accuracy Verification?
Use external reference as a load and connect the PTE to the reference with regard to voltages and
currents. Lastly connect BNC connector to the pulse input of the external reference. In such scenario,
the reference
will measure the same power as the PTE and PTE’s pulses will be measured by
reference’s pulses input (acting like regular electricity meter).
Optionally a supplied cable reduction can be used to utilize the AUX connector as pulses output (AUX
output in Measurements Settings has to be enabled (ON) for such functionality).
Optionally a pulses divider (supplied by Applied Precision) can be used to lower the pulses rate if the
PTE’s constant modification is not enough to fulfill the possible reference’s maximum pulses limitation
that may be present (e.g. with older reference standard).
Instead of BNC or AUX output connector, the metrology LED of PTE can be used in a same way as
any regular electricity meter, i.e. with specific sensor.
