Epica DGX 144 Instruction Manual

Linking Epica DGX 144 to Enclosure with 10Base-2 Ethernet Port

An Epica DGX 144 enclosure can be linked to an enclosure with an Ethernet 10Base-2 connector
(Modula, Modula CatPro, Epica-128, or Epica-256) by using a Media Converter. Additional Ethernet
10Base-2 enclosures can be daisy-chained off the first one.

Important:

If the system has an RJ-45 connector labeled TCP/IP, do not use it for linking

enclosures. Do not use an RJ-45 enclosure linking connector for a TCP/IP connection.

Cable Length Requirements

Important:

Attach 50-ohm termination connectors to the open ends of the T-connectors on the

Media Converter and on the last enclosure of the cable run.

To link an Epica DGX 144 to an enclosure with a 10Base-2 Ethernet port:

Insert the RJ-45 straight-through patch cable into the Epica DGX 144

enclosure’s Enc Link / RJ-45

port.

Insert open end of the cable into the Media Converter’s 10/100 / RJ-45 port.

Fasten a T-connector to the Media Converter’s BNC connector.

Attach an RG-58 coax cable to the T-connector.

Add a 50-ohm termination connector to the open end of the T-connector.

Fasten a T-connector to the Ethernet 10Base-2 / BNC connector on the second enclosure’s CPU.

Attach the open end of the RG-58 coax cable to the T-connector.

If applicable – Attach additional enclosures with T-connectors and RG-58 coax cables.

Add a 50-ohm termination connector to the open end of the T-connector on the last enclosure of the
cable run.

When power is applied, the Ethernet connector LEDs illuminate (see page 25).
