Changing Port Settings
Use
Ports
to configure the baud rate, data bits,
parity, stop bits, and port use for the selected port.
PORT - O1
BAUD - 9600
DATA BI TS - 8
PARI TY - NONE
STOP BI TS - 1
PORT USE - KEYBOARD
The following settings can be changed:

Baud
300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200,
or 38400.
Data Bits
7 or 8
Parity
None, Odd, or Even
Stop Bits
1 or 2
Port Use
Alarm, Keyboard, Terminal, Printer,
Aux, Modem, Peripheral Interface

To change the settings:
1. Move the cursor to the
PORT
line.
2. Enter the port number (
1-8
), and press
Enter
(
Shot
). The selected port’s settings are
displayed.
3. Move the cursor to the setting you want to
change.
4. Press
Enter
(
Shot
) to display the available
options.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each setting you want
to change.
6. When finished making changes, press
Exit
(
Pattern
) to return to the previous menu.
IMPORTANT!
Once the selections for a port have
been made, do not change the settings unless the
connected devices are changed as well.
Port Usage Notes
Setting Description
Alarm
Use this setting when connecting the
AD2096A Alarm Interface Unit.
Keyboard
Use this setting when connecting the
AD2088 keyboard or ADTTE
controller. For keyboard use, set
Data Bits
to “8”,
Parity
to “none”,
and
Stop Bits
to “1”.
Note:
When a
Port Expander
is
used, the port
Baud Rate
must be
set to 4800, and the keyboards’ baud
rate set to 1200.
Terminal
Use this setting when a personal
computer is connected for
uploading/downloading system setup
information via the S3 software.
Printer
Use this setting when an RS-232
serial printer is connected.
Aux
Use this setting when control of
auxiliary devices through RS-232
communications is required.
Modem
Port 8 only
Use this setting when paging
communications with an external (AT
command set) modem is required.
Peripheral
Interface
Port
(PIP)
Use this setting when
communication with a video recorder
network is required.
Note:
The Peripheral Interface Port
must be enabled through the System
Options menu before port
parameters can be programmed for
the PIP. See
