Service manual AlphaCom XL transceiver Rev. 1.4 10-08-2011
Blz. 34/74
The protocol is provided to you by the central station and depends on the type of central station receiver
equipment that is present in the central station.
In the
communication method
field you can determine if alarm messages are sent through the hard-wired
LAN connection or through GPRS. If the GPRS is selected the alarm messages will be sent through the
integrated GSM module.
In the
supervision interval
field the interval time of the polling messages can be programmed. The
programmed interval time must be according to the risk class that applies for this specific installation. The
central station receiver determines the minimum and maximum polling time that can be used. If the polling
interval does not comply with the settings in the central station receiver, the polling interval will
automatically be changed to comply with central station receiver settings.
In the
test message
field the SIA code and interval time can be programmed to force the AlphaCom XL to
sent a test message. You must program the „RP‟ SIA code and also a interval time. If the SIA code is not
programmed and only a interval time is programmed, no message will be sent.
The programming options for the „Backup Settings‟ are nearly identical to the programming options used in
the „Normal Settings.‟
Attention:
in situations were the AlphaCom XL uses the hard-wired LAN connection as a primary
connection and the GSM module for GPRS backup the test message and interval time must be programmed
in
backup settings
.
From firmware version 1.7 and higher a new option „Always Register‟ was added for the for the backup
transceiver. The primary transceiver registers itself on the receiver in the central station en uses a
pollingmechanisme (Supervision Interval) to check the connection with the central station. The back-up
transceiver however does not register itself and therefore does not use a pollingmechanisme permanently.
Only when the primary transceiver is disconnected or fails to communicate the AlphaCom XL will
automatically switchover to the back-up transceiver. The back-up transceiver starts by making a connection
and registering itself on the receiver in the central station. Once the connectio is established the back-up
transceiver will send messages that are present in the buffer. The registering process costs time and the
central station will also create a disconnected alarm message once the primary transceiver connection is re-
established and the back-up transceiver disconnects.
When using the „Always Register‟ option the back-up transceiver will register itself on the receiver in the
central station and can use its own Supervision Interval to permanently check the back-up connection. The
Supervision Interval time for the back-up tranceiver maybe a lot longer than the primary connection.
Configuration IP transceiver 2
The programming screen for the second transceiver are identical to the settings used for transceiver 1.
