CoreBuilder 7000HD switches to form a robust network core with a very
high bandwidth capable of serving the entire headquarters network. The
redundant links between members of the core prevent a single point of
failure; automatic activation of backup LANE services ensures their
continued operation.
An FDDI ring is supported through a CoreBuilder 2500 switch.
First, Second, and Third Floor Network Edge The CoreBuilder 7000
ATM switches on the first and second floors serve as edge devices; the
CoreBuilder 7200 and 7400 interface modules which are located in these
switches provide high-density switched Ethernet 10 Mbps connections to
workgroup hubs or direct to the desktop.
The CoreBuilder 7000 ATM switch on the third floor uses the CoreBuilder
7600 interface card as a high-density Fast Ethernet switch for backbone
downlinks, high-performance workgroups, and server farm connectivity.
