ANAGEMENT
In addition, if you are working in the Single-IP mode, you can reset the
CoreBuilder 7X00 cards via the NCD Chassis private MIB in the
ncdchassPhysModuleTable table
Compatibility with
Previous Versions
The single-IP feature of version 4.0 is supported by version 5.0 of the
Transcend Enterprise Manager application. If you work with a previous
version of Transcend Enterprise Manager, revert to the previous
multiple-IP method by a simple LMA command (see “Enable/Disable
Single-IP Mode” on page 85 in the Management Guide).
7X00 Admin vLAN
The “admin” VLAN in each CoreBuilder 7x00 interface card, used for
SNMP management, is not required when you work with single-IP
management. The CoreBuilder 7x00 cards are now managed through the
single IP of the switch card. In the event that an individual CoreBuilder
7x00 has not been updated to version 4, an admin vLAN must be defined
for it.
You can create an admin VLAN for an individual CoreBuilder 7x00 in two
ways: When you set up VLANs on a CoreBuilder 7x00 card with its own
LMA, an admin VLAN is defined automatically. The admin VLAN defined
this way always contains Port #1; you cannot move it to another vLAN
and cancel the admin VLAN. This restriction on the CoreBuilder 7x00
LMA is not required in version 4.0 but is maintained for backwards
compatibility.
The second way is to use the Integrated Fast Setup procedure of the
CoreBuilder 7000 switch card to define an admin VLAN for an individual
CoreBuilder 7x00 card. Note, however, that when you use the Integrated
Fast Setup, you are not required to define an admin VLAN for the
CoreBuilder 7x00 cards. In fact, the Integrated Fast Setup procedure
allows you to move all ports out of an admin VLAN which was defined by
the CoreBuilder 7X00 LMA, effectively canceling the admin VLAN.
In the event that one of the switch or interface cards of the CoreBuilder
7000 chassis has not yet been upgraded to version 4.0, use the following
management procedure when working with Transcend 5.0.
