Adjusting the surgical microscope

Notes on adjustment

–

The distance between the objective lens and the working area depends on
the focal length of the objective lens used.

–

Only a correctly adjusted working distance will provide an optimum image
at all selectable magnifications.

To permit fast setup of the surgical microscope, it is advisable to store the
pupillary distances and prescriptions of the different users so that they can be
easily preset during system preparation.

Adjusting the

interpupillary distance

•

Set the minimum magnification on the main microscope using the foot
control panel.

•

Position the main microscope above the surgical field.

•

Use the knob (1) to adjust the distance of the eyepieces (2) on the binoc-
ular tube in such a way that the two eyepiece
images merge into one.

CAUTION

Damage to eyes due to high light radiation!

•

Never use the sun as a distant target for the adjustment of the surgical
microscope described below.

•

Do not use any other extremely bright light sources as a target.
