Ram
To ensure proper operation of the CMM, the coated surface of the ram
must be cleaned regularly. Only the following cleaning agents and ac-
cessories may be used for cleaning: a lint-free cloth, isopropyl alcohol,
and streak-free glass cleaner.
CAUTION
Damage to the surface due to contact with hard, sharp-edged
objects.
Scratches in the surface.
This impairs the function of the air bearings.

Use only a lint-free cloth and the prescribed cleaning agents.
1. Move the ram all the way down.
2. Moisten a lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol and clean the black
coating of the crossbeam.
CAUTION! Floating mount of the linear scale. Do not move
the linear scale.
To remove adhering dirt, you can use a streak-free glass cleaner.
Again, moisten a lint-free cloth with the glass cleaner; do not spray
the glass cleaner onto the coated surface.
3. Then rub the black surfaces dry.
Linear scale on the ram
The linear scale on the ram must be cleaned regularly. Only the follow-
ing cleaning agents and accessories may be used for cleaning: a lint-free
cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
1. Move the ram all the way down.
2. Moisten a lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol and clean the linear
scale on the ram.
– Use the moistened cloth to gently wipe in the direction of the
probe, that is from top to bottom.
CAUTION! Floating mount of the linear scale. Do not move
the linear scale.
Threaded bushings
Dust may accumulate in the threaded bushings and threads. To ensure
perfect condition of the threads, remove any dirt deposits from the
threaded bushings with a vacuum cleaner.
