Pagis ToolBar—In Pagis Pro, a program in the Pagis Inbox that
holds icon buttons to launch all the main programs built into
Pagis Pro.
pixel—Short for picture element, one of many individual units
that together make up an electronic picture.
portrait orientation—Describes a page on which lines of print
flow across the more narrow dimension (or width) of the page.

recognition—The TextBridge Pro process during which a
scanned or on-line page image is analyzed, and characters and
words are derived from the image and saved as a text data stream
in memory or in an on-line temporary file. Sometimes referred to
as optical character recognition (OCR). Note that TextBridge Pro
not only performs OCR, but also performs page segmentation,
page orientation (rotation), format analysis, recognition of text
styles (bold, italic), and conversion to a variety of popular text
formats.
recognition language pack—A system dictionary for a
particular language that TextBridge Pro uses to recognize
documents printed in this language. TextBridge Pro can recognize
fifty-seven languages.
region—An area of text or an image on a scanned page displayed
in the Pagis Editor that you define with a selection tool.
relevance—In database searches, a score assigned by the search
engine to items that are found during the search. The higher the
number the more relevant the found item is to the original search
criteria that the person doing the search specified.
resolution—The degree of detail, measured in dots per inch
(dpi), with which a scanner or fax machine can receive an image.
When scanning in Pagis Pro, specify the highest resolution that
you will need for your intended purpose. Specify 300–400 dpi if
you intend to OCR the text. Specify 100–200 dpi for color images.
