4. Specify color and resolution.
•
Text—If you plan to run OCR on the scanned document,
make sure to specify a resolution of 300 to 400 dots per inch
(dpi). Also click the Enhance for OCR Accuracy checkbox
for best results.
•
Picture—For most practical purposes, a resolution of higher
than 200 dpi is unnecessary. However, you are limited only by
the highest resolution your scanner supports.
•
Color—Most popular color scanners support 24-bit color
(millions of colors). For on-screen display or web publishing,
24-bit color is usually more than adequate. For color print
publishing, select the highest color depth supported by your
scanner (up to 24-bit color, the maximum color depth
supported by Pagis Pro). For black-and-white print
publishing, you might want to select a grayscale setting.
5. Specify Brightness settings if necessary.
•
Auto—If available for your scanner, select this setting, which
attempts to correct brightness on a page-by-page basis.
•
Manual—If the original page or picture is dark or tinted, you
can Darken or Lighten the scanned image accordingly.
