Before Starting Operation
Before any work on the machine itself,
pull the mains plug.
Mounting the Quick-clamping
Protection Guard (see figure A)
Loosen clamping lever
7
and turn the quick-clamping
protection guard
8
to the desired position.
Tighten clamping lever
7
again.
Mounting the Auxiliary Handle
Use the power tool only with the auxil-
iary handle 1.
Depending on the working manner, screw the auxiliary
handle
1
right or left on the gear head.
Mounting a Grinding Disc
(see Fig. B – D)
Unscrew the auxiliary handle
1
from the power tool.
The spanner for mounting the clamping nut
10
is inte-
grated in the auxiliary handle
1
. To reveal the spanner
pins, turn the cover of the auxiliary handle
1
180° until
it engages.
To lock the grinder spindle
6
, press and hold the spin-
dle lock button
2
. Loosen the clamping nut
10
with the
spanner and remove it.
Mount the grinding disc. Pay attention that the rotation-
direction indication on the grinding disc corresponds
with the direction-of-rotation arrow on the gear head.
Mount the clamping nut
10
with the collar facing out-
ward. Press the spindle lock button
2
and tighten the
clamping nut
10
with the spanner.
Check the grinding tools before using.
The grinding tools must be properly
mounted and must rotate freely. Carry
out a 1 minute (minimum) test run at max-
imum speed in a safe environment with
no load. Do not use damaged, out-of-cen-
tre or vibrating grinding tools.
Damaged
grinding tools can burst and cause injuries.
Operation
Observe the mains voltage!
The voltage of
the power source must correspond with the data on
the type plate of the machine.
Starting and Stopping
To
start
the power tool, push the On/Off switch
5
for-
wards.
To
lock
the On/Off switch
5
, press the On/Off switch
5
down at the front until it latches.
To
switch off
the power tool, release the On/Off
switch
5
or, if it is locked, briefly push down the back
of the On/Off switch
5
and then release it.
Adjusting the Speed
Set the speed to the desired value with the thumbwheel
11
.
Working Advice
Do not strain the machine so heavily that
it comes to a standstill.
Grinding and cutting discs become very
hot while working; do not touch until
they have cooled.
Rough Grinding
Never use a cutting disc for roughing.
The best roughing results are achieved when setting the
machine at an angle of 20° to 40°. Move the
machine back and forth with moderate pressure. In this
manner, the workpiece will not become too hot, does
not discolour and no grooves are formed.
Cut-off Grinding (see figure E)
For cut-off grinding applications, always
use an enclosed protection guard.
When cutting, work with moderate feed, adapted to
the material being cut. Do not exert pressure onto the
cutting disc, tilt or oscillate the machine.
Do not reduce the speed of running down cutting discs
by applying sideward pressure.
The machine must always work in an up-grinding
motion. Otherwise, the danger exists of it being pushed
uncontrolled
out of the cut.
When cutting profiles and square bar, it is best to start
at the smallest cross section.
