it will be necessary to have a heat gun on hand. (A common hair dryer may be sufficient.) In
addition, the preferred method of cutting the tubing is to use a so-called “heat knife.” If such a
tool is unavailable, scissors may be used. Note that two sizes of sleeving are provided—small and
medium. Note also that three sizes of heat-shrink tubing are provided—small, medium, and large.
– Cut two 6-inch pieces of medium expandable sleeving. Cut four pieces of medium heat-
shrink tubing, each about 3/4-inch long.
– Feed one 6-inch piece of medium-sized sleeving onto the primary leads of the right
channel output transformer, T1. Position one end of the sleeving near the base of the
transformer (where the leads enter the chassis). Stretch the sleeving to its full length. Place
one piece of heat-shrink tubing on each end of the sleeving. Process with the heat gun. Be
careful to focus the heat on the heat-shrink tubing, not the sleeving (which may melt if
exposed to too much heat).
– Feed one 6-inch piece of medium-sized sleeving onto the primary leads of the left channel
output transformer, T1. Position one end of the sleeving near the base of the transformer
(where the leads enter the chassis). Stretch the sleeving to its full length. Place one piece
of heat-shrink tubing on each end of the sleeving. Process with the heat gun. Be careful to
focus the heat on the heat-shrink tubing, not the sleeving (which may melt if exposed to
too much heat).
– Cut two 4-inch pieces of medium expandable sleeving. Cut four pieces of medium heat-
shrink tubing, each about 3/4-inch long.
– Feed one 4-inch piece of medium-sized sleeving onto the secondary leads of the right
channel output transformer, T1. Be sure to include the black ground wire from the
transformer case. Position one end of the sleeving near the base of the transformer (where
the leads enter the chassis). Stretch the sleeving to its full length. Place one piece of heat-
