Automatic Protection Option – 40 /60W Version
– Note the three cable clamps alongside the left channel amplifier PWB. Remove the
mounting screws and reorient the clamps 180 degrees, then tighten.
– Remove the brushed aluminum handle on the left side of the chassis.
– Using the drill pattern printout, mark and carefully drill the five mounting screws for the
auto-protect PWB.
– Reinstall the left side chassis handle.
– Position the auto-protect PWB in place and secure with four 3/8-inch long #4 screws.
Thread all five screws before tightening.
– Examine the power transformer. Note the rear-facing mounting screw adjacent to RYL1.
Loosen the #6 screw and nut.
– Find thermostat switch SW203. Slip the mounting tab under the #6 nut. Tighten.
– Prepare two 22-inch long #22 white wires. Find the 4-terminal Molex connector and pins.
Attach a pin to one end of each wire. Insert a wire/pin into position #3 on the connector.
Insert the other wire/pin into position #4 on the connector. Loosely twist the wires
together.
– Prepare two 23-inch long #22 yellow wires. Find the 4-terminal Molex connector and
pins. Attach a pin to one end of each wire. Insert a wire/pin into position #1 on the
connector. Insert the other wire/pin into position #2 on the connector. Loosely twist the
wires together.
– Cut a 15-inch long piece of medium-size cable sleeving. Cut two pieces of heat-shrink
tubing, each about 3/4-inch long. Slide the pair of white wires and yellow wires through
the sleeving. Place a piece of heat-shrink tubing at each end of the sleeving.
– Prepare a 30-inch long #22 high-voltage (600 V) red wire. Attach a quick-disconnect
terminal to one end of the wire. Thread the free end of the wire through the sleeving. The
quick-disconnect terminal should be on the same side as the 4-terminal Molex connector.
– Process (heat) the heat-shrink tubing on each end of the sleeving.
