3.10.3 Short Message Service (SMS)
Description
The Short Message Service (SMS) provides the ability to send and receive text messages to and
from iPECS IP and LDP Phones equipped with a display as well as UCS Client and WLAN
Phone. The text is comprised of words, numbers, or an alphanumeric combination. Each short
message can be up to 100 characters in length when Latin alphabets are used.
You send and receive messages from your iPECS IP or LDP Phone or the Station Portal of the
iPECS system Web Home Page. For operation using the Station Portal Web page, see your
System Administrator.
Operation
To assign a Flex button as a {SMS SEND} button;

To resend an existing SMS message;
1. Press the
[TRANS/PGM]
button.
2. Dial “36”, the SMS send code.

3. Dial “1” to resend a message.

SKIP-(*)
4. Dial the desired station range to receive the message or “*” to use the displayed station
range.

5. Press the
[HOLD/SAVE]
button to send the message or “#” to cancel.
To send a new message
1. Press the
[TRANS/PGM]
button.
2. Dial “36”, the SMS send code.
