10.1 When there is problem
Precautions for failure
• During a breakdown situation do
not panic, pay attention to the
subsequent vehicles, slow down
the speed gradually and stop the
vehicle in a safe location free
from traffic.
• It is dangerous to stop the
v e h i c l e i n a t u n n e l . S t o p t h e
vehicle outside the tunnel.
• In case the vehicle stops in the
m i d d l e o f t h e r o a d a n d i t i s
d i f f i c u l t t o m o v e i t t o a s a f e
p l a c e . S w i t c h o n t h e h a z a r d
l i g h t s a n d g e t d o w n f r o m t h e
v e h i c l e c a r e f u l l y a n d s e t u p
warning indications around the
vehicle to warn the traffic.
• Place the warning indications
s i g n s a r o u n d t h e v e h i c l e t o
indicate the breakdown. If not
subsequent vehicles may collide
i n t o t h e r e a r. B e s u r e t o p u t
s i g n s o f v e h i c l e b r e a k d o w n
according to the methods below.
• Stop indicator
• Switch on the hazard light
(emergency flashing light)
• Place the emergency signal
t o o l ( s i g n a l l i g h t o r s a f e t y
flare) around the vehicle.
• Place a red flag or red light
around the vehicle.
• Place the warning indication
i n a l o c a t i o n w h e r e i t i s
visible for other vehicles.
• Check the failure area. If it can
be repaired, repair the vehicle
while paying attention to other
traffic.
• If it cannot be repaired, contact
t h e n e a r e s t U D Tr u c k s
authorised dealer.
• For repairs involving with a jack
o n t h e r o a d , t h e j a c k m a y b e
dislocated due to wind pressure
o f o t h e r v e h i c l e s . N e v e r g e t
u n d e r t h e v e h i c l e w h e n
repairing. Always place the jack
in a firm ground.
