8.14 Oils
Engine oil recommendations
It is important to check and replace
l u b r i c a n t s o n a r e g u l a r b a s i s f o r
longer life, safe and comfortable
driving of the vehicle.
This section summarizes the checks
and service that can be performed
b y u s e r s r e g a r d i n g l u b r i c a t i o n .
Lubricants that are in use and their
corresponding regular replacement
intervals are indicated on the list in
the “Service data” and “Maintenance
schedule” chapters.
UD lubricants are prepared for the
f u l l p e r f o r m a n c e o f t h e v e h i c l e .
Always use UD lubricants for regular
replenishment and replacement.
Precautions for replenishment and
replacement of oil
Incorrect service work may cause
leakage of oil. Ask for service at the
n e a r e s t U D Tr u c k s a u t h o r i s e d
dealer.
D u r i n g i n s p e c t i o n a n d s e r v i c e ,
observe the following items:.
• Be sure to prepare the drain oil
container.
• Perform the work in a location
where an oil disposal unit is avail-
able.
• Always dispose of waste oil
according to environmental direc-
tives.
C h e c k i n g a n d r e p l a c e m e n t o f
engine oil
Check the engine oil level before
driving the vehicle on daily basis
w h e n t h e e n g i n e i s c o o l . W h e n
checking after switching OFF the
engine, wait for the engine to cool
down and allow the oil to return to oil
pan.
CAUTION
We s t r o n g l y r e c o m m e n d t o
always use UD lubricants. Using
other oils and lubricants will
result in severe consequential
damages and cancellation of
warranty.
NOTE
Check or replace items that
indicate both the service interval
and the driving distance, which
ever is earlier.
WARNING
To avoid serious injury from a
hot engine or oil, check the oil
level and perform maintenance
only after the engine has cooled
down.
