Steering wheel operation precau-
tions
When turning the steering wheel, the
power steering hydraulic pressure
change could create a sound that
r e s e m b l e s a s o u n d s t r i k i n g t h e
h y d r a u l i c p i p e s , a n d i s n o t a
malfunction.
Inter-vehicular distance
There is a tendency to ignore the
inter-vehicular distance when
following another vehicle. But, make
sure sufficient space is maintained
between the vehicles to avoid any
kind of accident.
•
Generally, when driving under 60
km/h, the distance is half the
number on the speedometer. But
when driving faster than 60 km/h
(excluding vehicles with speed
limiter device), maintain an inter-
vehicular distance greater than
the number on the speedometer.
For example, when driving at 40
km/h, maintain a space of 20 m or
more. But when driving at 70 km/h
(excluding vehicles with speed
limiter device), maintain a dis-
tance of over 70 m. It is important
to maintain an even greater dis-
tance when it is raining, to allow
extra space for emergency stop-
ping.
CAUTION
Do not hold the steering wheel
turned all the way for more than
10 seconds. Doing so could
damage the power steering unit.
