Recommended M aintenance
N ot e: Graphic labels (show n above) are used for CE
application only.
Im port ant :
•
Before servicing, disconnect all pow er sources and
allow at least 30 m inutes for capacitors to discharge.
•
All electrical enclosures—unit or rem ote—are IP2X.
This section describes the basic chiller preventive
m aintenance procedures, and recom m ends the intervals
at w hich these procedures should be perform ed. Use of a
periodic m aintenance program is im portant to ensure the
best possible perform ance and efficiency from a
CenTraVac chiller.
Record Keeping Forms
An im portant aspect of the chiller m aintenance program is
the regular com pletion of records. Refer to
“ Form s and
Check Sheets,” p. 102
for copies of the recom m ended
form s. When filled out accurately by the m achine operator,
the com pleted logs can be review ed to identify any
developing trends in the chiller ’s operating conditions. For
exam ple, if the m achine operator notices a gradual
increase in condensing pressure during a m onth’s tim e, he
can system atically check, then correct the possible cause
of this condition.
WARNING
Hazardous Voltage w / Capacitors!
Failure to disconnect power and discharge capacitors
before servicing could result in death or serious injury.
Disconnect all electric power, including remote
disconnects and discharge all motor start/ run
capacitors before servicing. Follow proper lockout/
tagout procedures to ensure the pow er cannot be
inadvertently energized. For variable frequency drives
or other energy storing components provided by Trane
or others, refer to the appropriate manufacturer’s
literature for allowable w aiting periods for discharge of
capacitors. Verify w ith an appropriate voltmeter that all
capacitors have discharged.
For additional information regarding the safe discharge of
capacitors, see PROD-SVB06* -EN

NOTICE:
Check Purge Run-Time for Unit Hermetic
Integrity!
If frequent purging is required, failure to monitor purge
pumpout rate, identify and correct source of air or
water leak as soon as possible could shorten chiller life
expectancy, due to moisture contamination caused by
leakage.
NOTICE:
Do Not Use Non-Compatible Parts or
M aterials!
Use of non-compatible parts or materials could result in
equipment damage. Only genuine Trane
®
replacement
components w ith identical Trane part numbers should
be used in Trane CenTraVac chillers. Trane assumes no
responsibility for damages resulting from the use of
non-compatible parts or materials.
