Forward flushing
1. Switch the capillary connections on the flow cell: Connect the Viper
connector from the back-flush capillary to the flow cell inlet and the
back-flush waste line to the flow cell outlet.

2. Turn on the pump flow at the flow rate as determined in
section Determining the required pump flow .
3. Flush the flow cell for 2 minutes with the back-flushing agent.
4. Monitor the operating pressure:
♦ If the pressure remains high at a value similar to the value that
you wrote down, the clogging was not removed. Thermo Fisher
Scientific recommends performing another backward and
forward flushing cycle:
a) Stop the pump flow.
b) Follow the steps starting with
Back-flushing on page 138 .
If repeated flushing did not remove the clogging, proceed
with
Ending the flushing procedure below .

If the pressure is decreasing to a normal state and only a little
liquid flows through the overpressure line, the clogging is
removed from the flow cell. As the blockage is flushed out, the
pressure at the pump is usually decreasing. More of the liquid
will flow through the flow cell and less fluid is leaving the
overpressure line.
