APPENDIX B: ALARM / REMOTE-CONTROL FRONT PANEL CONNECTOR
B.1
Alarm contacts connection
The alarm contacts that enable telephone reports to assigned personnel are to be connected to the In/Out
front panel connector. Use the 6-pin DIN provided with the system for this purpose. All the pins of the plug
are numbered, connect them as shown in the drawing.
The relay contacts must be used with no voltage on them and they are open under normal conditions and
closed for at least 200 milliseconds when an alarm condition occurs. These share the common electrical
ground of the T11-T12 system. However, the other pin of the contact has a positive voltage of 5 VDC. A
sensor signals the status of the contact to the processor.
If one of the contacts closes and remains closed, the alarm condition is detected only once. Even after the
personnel have been contacted and have correctly entered the password for the alarm in question, new
alarm reports are not generated. For the system to recognize a new alarm to report, it is necessary that the
associated contact return to the stand-by position (open) for at least 200 milliseconds. If the contact opens
and closes at intervals, the employee is notified and acknowledges the alarm. Then user will immediately
receive a new report because the system will handle it as a new alarm.
B.2
Remote-Control Contact Connection
It’s a remote-control relay contact . This is an open contact when in stand-by, closed when enabled by an
outside telephone with the appropriate password to access it. The operating condition is not stored in case of
a system power failure. If the contact was enabled and there was an electric power grid failure, upon the
return of voltage the contact would be enabled again after a time-out of 10 seconds. Memory of the state
relies on field 34. All the pins of the plug are numbered. Connect them as shown in the drawing. The contact
is a pure relay contact.
