20. RA-5A Chassis Protection Block

Protection Block (RA-5A Chassis)

Refer to Figure 20-1

for an overview of the protection circuits.

When a serious problem occurs, this TV will protect the remainder of its circuitry and the picture tubes in one of
the following ways:

•

TV shutdown (AC relay is turned off);

•

TV Latched OFF (AC relay is held off); or

•

Picture is blanked to produce a dark screen (no RGB signal to the CRT cathodes).

When the TV is placed in one of these protective states, IC001 also indicates the cause by blinking the
Standby LED a number of times, pauses, and then repeats the same count.
