Supply of operational gases
3.3.1
Screw connections of the gas connections
●
Standard: Clamping ring screw connections for pipes with a 6-mm outside diameter,
brand name “Swagelok”.
●
When the screw connections are removed, inside threads are available:
– Exhaust gas outlet (“Exhaust”): Inside thread G 1/8"
– All other gas connections (except “Bypass”): Inside thread 1/8" NPT

Safety instructions for gas supply

Supply of instrument air

Ensure a continuous supply of instrument air to the “Instr.air” gas connection
(specifications
→ P. 194, §16.6.1 ).

In the event of critical measurement applications (e.g. emission measurement): Clean
the instrument air (e.g. with a catalytic purifier).
NOTICE:
Contaminated operating gases can corrupt the measured values and damage
the analyzer unit.

Ensure the required purity of all operating gases.

Ensure that the gas pipes to the EuroFID are clean:
– Free from particles (dust, chips)
– Free from hydrocarbons (grease, oil, solvents).

When installing the gas pipes pay special attention to cleanliness
NOTICE:
When the supply of an operating gas fails, the FID flame is extinguished.
Consequence:
– The measuring function of the EuroFID fails.
– Condensation can occur in the internal sample gas paths. As a result the
components of the measuring system (e.g. nozzles) can be rendered
useless.

Ensure a continuous supply of the operating gases ( → P. 31, §3.3 ).

Recommendation: Monitor the supply pressure of the instrument air with
an electronic pressure monitor. Connect the signal of the pressure monitor
with the “Gas supply malfunction” control input (
→ P. 65, §6.3.6 ).

Instrument air is also used as zero gas ( → P. 147, §12.3 ).
