Purging parameters (purging time)
Function
After calibration the measuring system should be purged with zero gas (instrument air)
before measurement is resumed – otherwise the span gas which was in the measuring
system during calibration could trigger a threshold value alarm (H-alarm).
The “purging time” determines how long the measuring system should be purged with
instrument air (zero gas) after calibration. The purging time should correspond
approximately to the reaction time (dead time + 100% time) of the EuroFID.
Procedure
1 Open the menu: Main menu

CAUTION: Incorrect alarm signal resulting from inadequate purging time
If the purging time setting is inadequate, it is possible that an alarm signal
(threshold value exceeded) is still triggered.

It is preferable to select a long purging time rather than a short purging
time.
To determine the optimum purging time:
Check how long it takes for the measured value to remain constant after
switchover to a calibration gas.
