10.6 External Control Panels
The Sirius 830 is supplied with a sample/default database. The default database configures
Port 3 to use the Multidrop Communications protocol (SW-P-06). Port 3 supports a variety of
BPX and XY control panels (see Table 8. for details). See section 7.5 for panel connection
information.
10.6.1 Powering Up the Panel
1. Connect the IEC power lead to the rear of the control panel (see section 7.5.2).
2. The control panel will power up and the buttons will go through a start-up sequence.
3. Once the start-up sequence has been completed the buttons will be lit as shown
in Fig 32.
4. The control panel is ready to be used.
10.6.1.1 Example: 2RU XY Control Panel Operation
Dial-up XY panel (6026776 mimicking a 6276 control panel).
The following is a brief description of routing a single video signal using an external XY
control panel. A full description of control panel usage can be found in the control panel user
manual
1. Press the Destination button so that it displays Cyan (light blue) to indicate that you
are going to select a Destination.
2. Press the Video button then use the numeric keypad to enter the destination port
number that the source is to be switched to.
3. The selected destination details will be displayed in the Destination display.
4. Press the Source button so that it displays Green to indicate that you are going to
select a Source.
5. Press the Video button then use the numeric keypad to enter the source port number
to be switched.
6. The selected source details will be displayed in the Preset display.
7. Press the Take key to route the selected source to the selected destination.
