5.6 Transformer Measurement
Aiming at the rapidly increased demand for electronic transformer,
STB8827
A
provides measurement function for basic parameters of transformer.
Coordinating with the test fixture of TH26038, the instrument can easily test the
primary and secondary inductance (L2A, L2B), turn ratio (N, 1/N), mutual
inductance (M), primary and secondary direct-current resistance (R2) of the
transformer directly. Also, it can test another two common parameters of the
transformer indirectly: winding equivalent capacitance C

, leakage inductance L

NOTE:
where, “2” in L2A, L2B, R2 indicates two terminal measurement
method to differ from four-terminal measurement in LCR.
STB8827
A is designed to provide easy and cheap transformer
measurement method. Limited to the test terminal, transformer measurement
can only adopt two-wire method. Consequently, its measurement accuracy
is inferior to four-terminal measurement in LCR manner.
Using the built-in bias voltage source of
STB8827
A, bias test can be made
for transformer winding.

It is not recommended to replace the test fixture of TH26038 with
independent connector, because the shield terminal of four test terminals should
develop a reliable short circuit to form four-terminal pair.
